Cycle for education

joBerg2c turns wheels of education

Riders have raised R100 000 for the schools in the rural communities through which they pass. These institutions have used their funds for everything from opening a remedial unit to bursaries for underprivileged learners, school buses and a daycare for disabled children.

In addition, next year’s event will see organisers join forces with the Participate for Good campaign, a 46664 Bangles Initiative, to raise more than a million rand towards building container libraries along the race’s route.

The participating Old Mutual joBerg2c teams have already received R415 000 in pledges, which will enable the delivery of two fully stocked libraries. The location of the libraries will be determined in consultation with race organisers and local communities, as well as the Department of Education and children’s organisation Soul Buddies.
